Vafa Kaamil is a rapper, songwriter, director, and engineer, born in Chicago, IL raised in St. Louis, MO. He grew up in a single-parent household with his mom and two siblings. Kaamil was previously known as V-Doe, but after developing himself as an artist, he later changed it to Vafa Kaamil; which translates as “perfect loyalty” in Arabic. Music has always been an influence in Kaamil’s life, starting at an early age; he began orchestra at the age of ten, and always looked to the music he heard while growing up to influence his own style. Some of his biggest musical influences include Twista, Bone Thugs N Harmony, NWA, Biggie Smalls, Tupac, and Lil’ Wayne. What started out as a hobby, quickly escalated into a way of life, in 2007 while mourning the loss of a close friend he started taking music seriously; using it as an outlet for him to express himself. In 2009, he moved to Minneapolis, MN; where he currently resides. Although hip-hop is his main genre, Kaamil has also written, rock, pop, dubstep, and dance records. He also directs countless high-quality videos for various artists across the nation. Along with his directorial attributes, he also engineers his own songs as well for others. His top songs include, “Tints on a Rental” and “Get Away”, both of these songs and the rest of his catalog are available on all major streaming platforms. Kaamil is currently preparing an EP while releasing one track per week, complimenting select ones with punch worthy visuals.
